Sustainability Policy

All staff members and contracted staff have a personal responsibility to ensure that the aims and objectives of this policy are met.

At London Short Film Festival, we recognise that we have a responsibility to the environment that goes beyond the legislative requirements.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, and commit to the creation and delivery of environmentally friendly, sustainable programming, and working practices.
We commit to continual monitoring and evaluation of our activities to better understand and improve our performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operational methods.
Through training and knowledge-sharing we will enable our staff to become Carbon Literacy champions, supporting and inspiring our communities, audiences, partners and stakeholders through action and engagement. As ambassadors for change we actively support London’s Zero Carbon strategies, and as cultural sector contributors we aim to advance awareness within our sector through innovative low-carbon initiatives and endeavours.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact year on year, continuing our commitment to securing a green future.
We recognise both the imperative and the opportunity in responding to the global challenges of climate change and securing environmental sustainability, acknowledging that rapid and urgent action is needed across all sectors of society.

Policy aims
We will:
Endeavour to comply with all relevant regulatory requirements
Continually improve and monitor environmental performance
Continually improve and reduce environmental impact
Continually increase employee awareness

Paper
We will operate paper free business practices, printing only where vitally necessary, and reverting to digital publication and communication wherever possible. Our brochure is printed on fully recycled paper, kindly provided by G.F Smith.

Energy and Water
Where we work in buildings and venues, we will seek to work with partners with robust environmental sustainability practices in place, and ensure that we minimise our impact on their environments wherever possible, including minimising energy and water consumption and waste.

Office supplies
We will continue to reduce energy use, moving to low/zero carbon energy sources through informed selection of venues we work in and partnership. We will ensure that we seek out environmentally conscious suppliers and minimise waste and use of office supplies.

Maintenance and cleaning
Where we work in venues and with venue partners, we will be responsible for our own waste management as far as is possible.

Monitoring and evaluation
We will continually improve our monitoring and evaluation.

Monitoring and improvement
We will:
Comply with legislation and regulatory requirements
Continally review our own performance
Continually review our environmental impact

Culture
We will raise awareness and engagement of the imperative for sustained, proactive sustainability action in communication with audiences, visitors, artists and stakeholders. We will meet annually with staff and stakeholders to review our practice, and explore areas for improvement.
