The Villainess

Start Time:

Location:
Rio Cinema
Runtime:
124 min
Program:

Presented as part of BFI’s nationwide Art of Action season, filmmakers, actors and stunt performers Jade Ang Jackman and Ayesha Hussain, curators of film and arts collective Babes with Blades, present an electrifying screening of Korean director Byung gil Jung’s 2017 action thriller The Villainess, with introduction.

Let spectacularly choreographed action sequences fully immerse you in the chaotic and surreal world of Sook-hee. Honed from childhood to be an elite assassin, the unfolding web of lies around her forces our protagonist into an unrelenting mission for revenge.

This female fronted revenge saga inspired some of the motorbike stunts in John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. Expect high octane chase sequences!

Content warning: violence, gore

This screening is supported as part of Art of Action, a BFI FAN initiative supported through National Lottery. Art of Action is a new BFI season celebrating the artistry of real action choreography, that has kept film audiences on the edge of their seats since the early days of cinema.
