Peter Strickland: Mini Motion Pictures + Q&A

While we digest Flux Gourmet, we delve into the deliciously surreal and corporeal worlds of seminal filmmaker Peter Strickland with a full retrospective of his short film works. A friend of LSFF since the early days of the Halloween Society, Peter will join us in conversation with a special guest.

Born in 1973 in Reading to a Greek mother and English father, and following a stint at the local Progress Theatre where he directed an adaptation of Kafka’s Metamorphosis, Peter studied fine art at Reading College of Art. He later founded the Sonic Catering Band, who for 16 years took the raw sounds recorded from the cooking and preparing of a meal and treated them through processing, cutting, mixing and layering. Peter’s feature films include Katalin Varga (2009), Berberian Sound Studio (2012) and The Duke of Burgundy (2014), plus Björk collaboration Biophilia (2014).

See the early inspiration and emerging aesthetic touchstones of these later films in this exclusive retrospective.
