Films On The Spectrum is a celebration of autism through art and cinema. This screening will create a sense of community and belonging centred around autism and autistic artists. The films explore the freedom of movement and normalise the expression of emotion through stimming; the processing of emotions in a neurotypical world.

The Stimming Pool (2024) directed by Steven Eastwood and the The Neurocultures Collective (Sam Chown-Ahern, Georgia Bradburn, Benjamin Brown, Robin Elliott-Knowles, Lucy Walker) is an experimental film about what it means to be an autistic person living in a neurotypical world and how they react to ever-changing experiences and environments. We’re excited to present the UK premiere of Periphery (2024) directed by Erin Le Fevre, a short film detailing the experiences of a young person with autism navigating the start of university.

Comfort and accessibility for our neurodivergent audience members are the focus of this screening, with dim lighting, a quieter sound system and a written guide to the format and running order of the event available before the screening.

We’re delighted to present a small exhibition of artwork made by neurodivergent artists displayed at Rich Mix to accompany the screening.
