Speaking in Symbols
In this selection of new short films, folkloric landscapes take us from the ancient bogs and marshland of Suffolk in England to the sacred banyan tree in the Malwa Region of Central India, from the mountains of Spain's Basque Country to a dilapidated farm in Eastern Europe visited by an Alice-like girl on wondrous adventures.
These films examine the persecution of witches across Mediaeval Europe to the lasting legacy of English Morris Dancers, and from the beautifully unique land art of Richard Long to a perception of gender in English folk costume and pantomime drag. Join us on a journey through global symbolism, tradition, storytelling and mysticism.
