Kino London Open-Mic Screening
19:30 Thu 5 Jan 2012
Kino London’s monthly open-mic film night is the only film event of its kind in London.
Filmmakers register in advance to screen their short at the next event, sight unseen. There are no themes, no pre-selection and no restrictions, other than that films be under 6 minutes, on DVD, and include the Kino London logo at the end, just for the screening. Filmmakers turn up with their film on the night, introduce it personally then stick around to discuss their work with audience and filmmakers alike.
Not only do Kino screen new shorts, they also encourage and facilitate production. Each month Kino issues a challenge to filmmakers who attend the event – produce a short in the following month and screen it at the next event. Simple.
On the eve of this year’s LSFF Kino will hold their first open-mic event of 2012. At this event on Thursday 5th January a screening’s worth of film challenges will be issued. Anyone attending the event can take part, and a production meeting will be held on Saturday 7th January to get everyone started. This meeting is open to everyone – filmmakers, actors, musicians, runners – the whole shebang. Those unable to attend the Jan 5th screening are also welcome to attend.
