London Short Film Festival are looking to recruit new members for our Selection Committee, to join the programming team for our January 2024 festival edition.
Overseen and supported by Festival Co-Director Philip Ilson and Heads of Programme Qila Gill and Varun Raman, each member of the Selection Committee will be required to watch and write short reviews of upwards of 600 short films between May and September 2023.
We’re looking for candidates who are excited by discovering new work and enjoy watching short films with a critical eye. There will be an introductory session to get you acquainted with the LSFF programme, your fellow committee members and the pre-selection process. There will then be two meetings per month to discuss submissions, potential programme ideas and competition selections.
We receive over 5000 short film submissions each year, and are looking for film enthusiasts with the ability to concisely articulate their thoughts and engage discerningly with a large number of submissions.
These positions are intended for people looking for experience in film festivals or who are interested in becoming film programmers. Previous industry or academic experience is not required but we’re always keen to see an interest in film or film festivals. This is an excellent opportunity to gain programming experience, network and play a key role in shaping the festival for 2024 and beyond.
The fee is £1000. Interested candidates must be able to commit to watching all assigned submissions in keeping with the festival’s timeline.
Applicants do not need to be based in London or the UK but will be expected to attend the monthly meetings via Zoom. You will also receive complimentary tickets to attend the London Short Film Festival in January 2024. If you have access requirements to attend meetings via Zoom, we will ensure that these are met.
