Although Mary Wigman’s Witch Dance from the 1926 is considered a major work in history of German expressionism, only a fragment of the original performance survived in the form of a mere two minutes of film. A sitting dance where the performer appears to be in a trance, sometimes calmy reaching out into the void, sometimes shaken by invisible forces. This Witch Dance is the basis for a modern version called Écran Somnambule by Latifa Laâbissi, created in 2012.
