Continuum FM
‘Continuum FM’ is a game engine based short film which envisions the embodied perspective of a pirate radio signal (reimagined as a form of distributed intelligence). This ties into Andy Clark and David Chalmers thesis of The Extended Mind (1998) in which technologies, such as radio waves, extend beyond the limits of the self. ‘Continuum FM’ also provides philosophical commentary on the myriad of ecosystems that have sprouted from the black musical diaspora and the cultural labour of the London working class. Specifically arguing for the emancipatory potential of pirate radio as an outlet for diverse communities from poorer economic backgrounds. Speculative 3D worlds are rendered using Unreal Engine 5 to help illustrate concepts from the video essay and the soundtrack consists of ambient remixes from CSV’s upcoming album. ‘Continuum FM’ has previously been exhibited at the SOUND/IMAGE Festival in London as well as CURRENTS in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
