London Short Film Festival at Roxy Bar and Screen

LSFF is delighted to return to the ROXY this year with three programmes showcasing the best in short docs, longer docs and music videos.

NEW SHORTS #14 MUSIC AND VIDEO dances between music videos, experimental work, animation, and fiction films set to music, promising a playful programme like no other on Monday 13th Jan.

On Tuesday 14th the ever-popular NEW SHORTS #16 NIGHT OF THE LIVING DOCS returns as a programme of two halves with documentaries exploring people and places. Tickets for this event are running out fast, so get them while you can.

We take over the Roxy on Saturday 18th for a whole afternoon of longer documentaries with NEW SHORTS #25 LONG[ER] DOCS, a relaxed programme including Q&As with filmmakers in between films.

Mon 13 Jan 18:30

We consider the marriage of sound and image in our regular epic selection of creative music videos alongside short films with a dominant musical soundtrack. There’s animation and experimental work, and music from the full spectrum, from VV Brown to Mat Motte, and from Serafina Steer to Bat For Lashes.

The screening will also include the London premiere of the 4 films made as part of the 2013 Bestival Challenge as commissioned byLSFFat this year’s Bestival music festival on the Isle of Wight.

Sense of Space

Whether it’s a pub, a market, a village or an island, the places we inhabit shape us, and we shape them.  Frequently funny, often nostalgic and sometimes tinged with stoical sadness, these top notch short docs are about people and place; and in an ever-changing world they invariably carry the heavy weight and anticipation of an uncertain future.

Sense of Self

This selection of portraits, snapshots and contemplations concentrates on real people, whether they’re mould-breaking one-of-a kinds or regular Joes telling their tale.  Real stories, musings, revelations and insights abound in this excellent collection of new documentary shorts.

Back for the third year running,LSFF’s afternoon of longer form documentary offers a great programme of mid-length docs to get your teeth stuck into, in the cosy comfort of the Roxy Bar & Screen.  Settle in and be transported from the isolation of the Hebrides to the townships of Cape Town, spending time with comic book artists in London and school children in Guinea.  There will be short breaks between each film and Q&As with filmmakers wherever possible.
